Should i use once a month
Q: I have 3 indoor cats and 1 dog that only goes outside to potty. i have never had a problem with fleas or ticks and i use frontline plus on all my animals. i am hearing that i only have to use frontline every three months. my question is do you think i could get away with every three months or maybe every 45 days? if so are there any health risk? thank you.
A: Depends on where you live and how bad your flea problem is. i live in south florida and use the frontline plus monthly.
Shop for: frontline, frontline plus, tick

Doberman having problems walking
Q: I have a 5 year old male doberman. for the last 1.5 years the dog has begun to have problems walking. it's hard for him to get up and equally hard to walk. he rarley runs, instead he kind of hobbles. it seems that his front paws have problems keeping him up when they bend. he's about 90 lbs (not fat, he's a bigger doberman). at first, i thought it was because he was heavier? any ideas why???
A: You need to have your doberman evaluated by a local veterinarian.

Sugar
Q: My wife's dog bj just found out that he got (sugar 400) he needs shots morning and night but is there a better way to give him this? thank you, mr. campbell
A: Not really. most dogs who are diabetics need lifelong insulin either once or twice daily

Is this the same?
Q: My dog is around 20 pounds and is due for her dhlpp-c booster. is this the same as the da2lpp booster shot i can order here? my dog is around 16 months old. we adopted her from the spca and they said she was around 4 months old at that time so i am going by that and the vets age time. thank you, candi
A: The da2lpp shot will vaccinate against canine distemper, adenovirus-2, parainfluenza, parvovirus, hepatitis and leptospira. this is the same as "dhlpp-c".

Doxycycline
Q: My do has been tested positive for lyme. our vet has told us the dosage he needs. we have extra doxycycline for humans at home. are we able to give it to our dog/is it the same kind of doxycycline?
A: While the medication is the same, i cannot tell you from the information you're giving me whether the strength is correct or not.

Ticks
Q: I have been using advantage and do not have a flea problem, thank god, but i have been finding ticks on my dog. i am at a loss as to the best product to use to kill ticks. i thought advantage did this, but i guess not. also, what is the best way to remove a tick? thanks
A: The k9 advantix kills fleas, ticks and mosquitoes.|when is tick is found embedded in the skin, use a fine pointed tweezers at the point of attachment, and grasp firmly. remember to wear latex gloves when doing this. |using slow, steady, and firm traction, pull the tick straight out from the skin. |cleanse the skin with mild soap and water. |if part of the tick breaks off, you can try to remove it as you would a splinter, but it is probably best to leave it alone. the body will 'eject' it in time. |place the tick in a jar of alcohol, noting the date, in case of future illness. tick identification and location of tick infestation will be important. ||tips: |do not use a match or caustic materials to try to smother the tick or get the tick to 'back out'. this doesn't work, and may be causing the tick to regurgitate more saliva (and potential pathogens) into the skin. |
Shop for: tick, advantage, advantix
