Using ivermectinQ: My ? is using ivermectin? i know it is a cattle thing but a vet in louisiana said that it could be used on smaller animals at 1cc per 10 lbs. every 6 months just like the tablet or shot the vet. gives. you use a syringe with the needle to fill but remove the needle and squirt it in their mouth. i bought a bottle of 50ml. i have 2 dogs, one weights 65 lbs and the other is 28 lbs. the proheart 6 cost a lot compared to ivermectin. please advise your feelings about this medication. Help infested with fleas!Q: We live in georgia and have a 90lb, 8 yr. old, yellow lab. he has never had fleas and we discovered them several months ago. we took hiim to the vet he was given an oral tablet killing fleas for 24 hrs. we begun using frontline plus per directions. nothing happened we have since bombed the house, had exterminators treat inside, yard people treat outside, flea dips etc. they are still on him and in our house(he is inside dog). my vet says they are just really bad this year but its driving us and my 3 year old nuts! i vacumn my 3000+ sq. ft. house daily and wash sheets constantly. im exhausted and flea bitten help!!! Ichy skin/hair lossQ: My dog has been scratching his skin so bad that he has like no hair in either sides of his stomach, his feet and his nose. his hair loss is driving us all up the wall and i'm sure he don't like it either. what do i do, he looks like he is so much pain. thanks A: I would take to vet for itchy skin workup to include skin scrape of skin, and exam for skin parasites, etc. if negative like allergies either to something in diet or inhalent allergies. in meantime you could try oral benadryl at 1 mg per pound twice daily
